The East Burke Market is located on what was once the original Burke Mountain Lodge which went down from a fire circa 1978.
Folklore says it was hard to get the band to stop playing and usher customers out cause they thought they were getting “shut off”…. Ahh the 70s!
The property was redeveloped into the building we recognize today as the East Burke Market.
After about 28 years and 5 owners Bill and Carolyn Quirk purchased the store in March of 2008 and proceeded to expand into more offerings such as thick custom cut quality steaks, pork chops, chicken, fresh produce and deli meats as well as offering fresh homemade breakfast and lunch sandwiches, including our homemade signature chicken, tuna and egg Salad, as well as Mon-Fri lunch specials.
On Fridays you may find Bill grilling our fresh-ground cheeseburgers on the backporch in the summer time. In the winter our lunch specials mostly include comfort food like Mac & Cheese, Shephard’s Pie, Meatball Sandwiches, Chicken Pot Pie and our famous Steak and Cheese subs with our own Strip and Delmonico Steaks sliced fresh. We also have two different kinds of soup daily. Everything is homemade. Nothing is purchased from Sysco or U.S. Foods.
